Wild Berries –by Jinny Batterson
Summer is taking over,
Turning days warm and muggy,
Even just past dawn.
Going outside gets less
Appealing, while still a
Healthier alternative to
The viral burden of
Indoor spaces.
One more morning walk.
Meandering along a greenway,
Hugging the shade,
I nonetheless come
To a sunny stretch
Where the first of the
Season’s wild blackberries
Winks at me from the verge.
It’s only a little tart,
So warm and juicy.
A welcome reminder
That not everything
Beyond my control in
This season of covid
Is malevolent.
